Excision as a Treatment Option for Actinic Keratosis
Excision is a method of surgical removal. In this procedure various surgical tools are used to cut the entire lesion, usually with a bit of surrounding skin to ensure that the entire actinic keratosis is removed.
Like most surgical procedures, scarring is a common issue. Unfortunately, like curettage and similar destructive therapy, moderate scarring is very common.
The advantage is that the procedure is finished usually in one session, and the discomfort of the procedure is temporary.
